Meet the Team
Rev. Jan Arthur Lee, M.Div, BCC
Chaplain Jan is a board-certified chaplain (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains. He has been with Torrance Memorial since 2020. Previously, he served as a congregational pastor for 25 years and is an ordained minister within the American Baptist tradition. Whether you belong to a religious tradition or not, Jan is here to offer support and send some aloha vibes your way.
Rev. Douglas Lee, M.Div, BCC
Chaplain Doug began at Torrance Memorial as an intern chaplain and is now a full-time board-certified chaplain (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains. He received his Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology in 2000 and was ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2009. Doug’s experiences on three different continents and his mission work in Mozambique, Taiwan, and Malaysia enrich his ability to bring comfort and support to patients, family, and staff.
NODA/Caring Companions
Torrance Memorial participates in the No One Dies Alone (NODA) program, an internationally recognized volunteer program that supports actively dying patients who have no one at their bedside. The program ensures that everyone has someone with them when they die, just as they did when they were born.
We have employees and community members serving as trained volunteers to comfort patients without nearby family or friends. Patients, whether conscious or not, can benefit from the comfort of a hand being held, music playing, or someone reading or talking to them.
