Patient Meals & Room Service
At Torrance Memorial, patients have access to high-quality meals that aid in their healing process. With our hotel-style room service, patients have the freedom to customize their meal orders and delivery times to their liking. Following your physician-prescribed diet, “At Your Request” room service dining is designed to meet your individual nutritional needs.
Patients in our medical center will receive a room service menu upon admission to the hospital. Meals can be ordered via phone any time between 7 am and 7 pm, and will be delivered within 45-60 minutes. Those who are unable to navigate the Room Service system due to physical, emotional or cognitive difficulties will be assisted by a Room Service Ambassador.
Ordering Room Service
Patients select from a restaurant-style menu featuring a wide variety of food choices designed to meet patients’ therapeutic needs.
Meal orders are taken by a helpful and knowledgeable Room Service Ambassador. All patient meals are “checked” by a specialized computer system to ensure they adhere to a physician’s diet order.
If a patient orders something that does not fit their prescribed diet, a Room Service Ambassador will make suggestions that fit into the patient’s diet plan.
To place an order:
- Make your selections from the restaurant-style menu available inpatient rooms, provided that your selection is in line with your physician-prescribed diet.
- Call ext. 22235 from your bedside phone or call 310-517-1211.
- View the Torrance Memorial Room Service Dining Menu. Please let your nurse know if you do not have a menu in your room.
If you are hungry after hours, just let us know and we will arrange a snack for you.

Our menu selections are based on patient-preference research and are high-quality meals freshly prepared by skilled chefs. All options are reviewed by registered dietitians to ensure nutritional adequacy. In addition, patients can enjoy a variety of meal options and the flexibility to have it delivered when they’re ready to eat.
Special Requests
Guest Trays
When a loved one is in the hospital, it may be difficult for you to leave their side to grab a bite to eat. In order to ease your stress and facilitate your visit, we offer guest trays for visitors at reduced prices.
You may order a guest tray to be brought to you in the patient’s room:
- Call our Room Service Team at ext. 22235 or 310-517-1211 and place your order using the restaurant-style menu available in the patient rooms.
- Payment will be collected over the phone after placing your meal order. Only credit cards/debit accepted.
- Place orders any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Meal will be delivered within 45-60 minutes.
Birthday Program
If a patient’s birthday occurs during their stay at our hospital, Food and Nutrition Services will provide a small birthday cake along with a birthday card (unless the patient’s physician has prescribed dietary restrictions that would prevent the hospital from providing this service.)
Breastfeeding Mothers
Breastfeeding mothers are eligible to receive complimentary meals throughout the duration of their child’s hospital stay. Ask your nurse for more information or if you need help ordering a meal. Please let your child’s nurse know if you need a breast pump or an attachment kit, or need assistance with lactation.
New Mothers
New moms receive a special dessert in celebration of their newborn (unless the patient’s physician has prescribed dietary restrictions that would prevent the hospital from providing this service). Fresh baked cookies courtesy of the Food and Nutrition Services are also available in the afternoons.
