Appointment Guidelines

How often should my child be seen for routine well child visits/physical examinations?

  • Newborns: within 2-5 days of discharge from hospital
  • Age 2 weeks
  • Age 1 month
  • Ages 2, 4, 6, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 30 months
  • Annually after age 3 years
  • These appointments are best scheduled 2-3 months in advance

What if my child is sick?

If your child is ill or has an urgent problem, we will make every effort to make an appointment available for your child with your child's regular physician within the same day. At times due to high seasonal demand, the physicians' schedules will be fully booked and patients may be referred to an Urgent Care Clinic.

Problems which are less urgent may be scheduled in advance, usually within a few weeks, depending on the nature of the problem.

Will the doctors "call in" prescriptions to the pharmacy without seeing my child?

Refills for previously prescribed medications (not including antibiotics) may be requested by phone. However, this is more efficiently done by calling the pharmacy which last filled the prescription; the pharmacy can contact our office directly to request authorization for refills.

If you feel your child needs a new prescription for an antibiotic or other new medication, your child will need to be seen by a doctor first to ensure that such medication is necessary.

What is your cancellation of appointments policy?

We request a 24 hour notice for cancellations of appointments for well child visits and routine physical examinations. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance of these appointments may be subject to cancellation fee. All fees subject to patient’s insurance plan.

What if I arrive late for my child's appointment?

Patients who arrive more than 15 minutes late for their appointments may need to reschedule their appointments.

Will my child always see the same doctor?

We strive to have each family connected with one pediatrician. However, children may at times see one of our other pediatricians in the office if their doctor is not available or their schedule is overbooked.
