Intensive Care
The Torrance Memorial intensive care unit (ICU) is an area of the hospital where seriously ill patients receive specialized care such as intensive monitoring and advanced life support.
Torrance Memorial has 48 ICU beds serving various levels of care including:
- Burn ICU serving adult and pediatric patients who have experienced various degrees of burn trauma
- Cardiovascular ICU serving patients with critical heart conditions and issues
- Neonatal ICU provides critical care for newborn infants
- Neuro/Medical Surgical ICU is devoted to the care of patients with immediately life-threatening neurological problems.
We offer various types of specialized technology, including but not limited to Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Comprehensive Stroke Care and Percussive Ventilation for burns.
We have 24/7 Intensivist coverage for all ICU patients. The Intensivist acts like a quarterback for the patient and coordinates all the different specialties to help drive the care.
