Dr. Rumi Cader is board certified in internal medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology and business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles. He graduated from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He trained in primary care-internal medicine where he gained greater exposure to adolescent health, geriatrics, men's health, sports medicine, and women's health. He also holds a Master of Public Health Degree, specializing in epidemiology.

Dr. Cader joined the UCLA faculty while serving as Chief Resident in internal medicine and was soon promoted to Full Professor of Clinical Medicine at UCLA. He enjoys taking care of all of his patient health needs from simple sprains to treatment of disorders such as hypertension, heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. His practice style is one of collaboration with his patients, employing preventative measures to help achieve the best possible health outcomes. It is his goal is to help his patients achieve an active and healthy lifestyle.

He completed a Fellowship in Medical Education at UCLA and is the recipient of the prestigious Outpatient Faculty Teacher of the Year Award. He has a keen interest in community health and preventative health. He co-founded University Muslim Medical Association (UMMA) Community clinic which provides health care to the underserved of Los Angeles. He serves on UMMA's Advisory Board of Directors and volunteers his time in this role. He received Humanitarian Awards for his international relief work during the Asian tsunami and for providing care for the homeless in Los Angeles. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Born on the island of Sri Lanka, Dr. Cader grew up in London and then moved to Torrance at an early age. Coming from a family of physicians made his decision to pursue medicine an easy fit. He lives in the South Bay with his wife and three sons where he volunteers as an AYSO soccer referee and as team doctor for the Mira Costa High School Rugby Team. He grew up swimming in Hermosa Beach and at the Torrance Plunge and continues to enjoy both the ocean and pool. He and his family love the outdoors, traveling, going to UCLA football games and hanging out at the beach.
