After serving as Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the University of Southern California, Dr. Friedlander joined the Association of South Bay Surgeons to focus on her interest in all types of minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Friedlander uses her fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery to perform a variety of abdominal operations with tiny incisions and a telescope, including small intestine and colon resection and removal of organs including the gallbladder, appendix, spleen, and adrenal gland. Dr. Friedlander also has a special interest in breast cancer and applies these techniques to perform breast conservation therapy (lumpectomy), skin-sparing mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and partial breast radiation catheter placement. She enjoys performing endocrine surgery and treating surgical diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid through small incisions.

Throughout her career, Dr. Friedlander has published a variety of scientific studies in well-known medical journals. She has also presented several research projects at national medical conferences. Dr. Friedlander is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
