Hugo Hool, MD

Dr. Hugo Hool is a board certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist. He has dedicated most of his career to provide excellent and compassionate care to the South Bay and Beach Cities community. He attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School associated with St. Peters Hospital and Princeton Hospital, New Jersey. He completed a 3 year residency in Internal Medicine through the UCLA-San Fernando Valley program. He went on to complete his fellowship training in Medical Oncology and Hematology at UCLA-Olive View and Cedars Sinai Medical Centers.

Dr. Hool is the Director of the Hunt Cancer Institute at Torrance Memorial. He is excited to bring the Hunt Cancer Center to Torrance and the surrounding community. He treats a wide range of malignancies and is active in research with multiple openaccruing clinical trials. He is part of the TRIO network with UCLA and in a collaborative network with Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Hool has been an investigator and has published research that has advanced the state of art in medicine. Dr. Hool focuses in gastroenterologic, lung, breast, prostate cancers as well as sarcomas a rare type of malignancy. Dr Hool has a special interest in combining cutting edge research and treatment with an integrative medicine approach to better treat the whole patient, whether it is a benign blood disorder or a life threatening cancer. Dr. Hool is an active member of multiple medical boards and organizations. He completed a tenure as a board member of the Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Torrance Health Association. Dr. Hool served as the Chair of Oncology at Torrance Memorial, which he left to become the Director of the Hunt Cancer Institute.

He is a proud member of the South Bay community. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children. His wife is a practicing physician in Internal Medicine and is part of the Torrance Memorial Physician Network family. Their children attend local public schools and are active in our community’s clubs and services. He speaks Spanish and is active in Latino Health issues in the Los Angeles Area. He enjoys reading, traveling with his family and outdoor sports.
