Keith Hobbs, MBA, FACHE, Thirty-Year Healthcare Veteran, Named Torrance Memorial Medical Center’s New President

Torrance Calif., - February 1, 2023, Torrance Memorial Medical Center has named Keith Hobbs president of the institution, effective immediately. Hobbs brings nearly 30 years of healthcare administration experience to the position.

“Keith is a valued member of our management team and his promotion is certainly well deserved,” says Craig Leach, Torrance Memorial CEO. “His experience, leadership, and commitment to improving patient care will serve him well in his expanded role within Torrance Memorial and our growing community.”

In addition to Hobbs’ current duties which include oversite of Torrance Memorial’s physician network, medical staff, human resources and a number of other clinical and non-clinical areas, he will expand his role with oversite of Information Systems, Legal, Torrance Memorial IPA and ACO in the coming months.

As CEO of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital from 2016 to 2021, Hobbs was responsible for the hospital’s improved financials over a three-year period as well as raising the Press Ganey Emergency Department (ED) scores to among the top 25 percent in the nation. His accomplishments include building a neonatal Intensive care unit, establishment of a physician network strategy and development of a Teaching Hospital program.

Prior to his service at USC Verdugo, Hobbs spent more than two decades as vice president and multiple executive roles at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Hobbs holds a master’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in healthcare administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Medical Group Management Association. Hobbs also serves on a number of non-profit boards

“I look forward to the expanded role as president serving our South Bay communities,” says Hobbs. “I’m excited about our hospital’s future and looking forward to the development of an ambulatory surgery center with 23-hour overnight stay capabilities and our plans to become a teaching hospital with residents rotating to Torrance Memorial as we train future physicians. It’s a very exciting time for our institution.” 

Hobbs resides in the South Bay with his wife of 32 years. They have three adult children and a granddaughter.
