TORRANCE MEMORIAL OPENS LEMKIN PAVILION

Torrance, CA - Torrance Memorial Medical Center announces the opening of the Lemkin Pavilion, a 25-bed flexible medical/surgical, oncology and palliative care unit, recently dedicated in memory of the late oncologist Stephen R. Lemkin, M.D.

"The Lemkin Pavilion is not only a leading-edge nursing unit, but encompasses comfortable amenities and services for both patients receiving care and families who are supporting loved ones," said Peggy Berwald, chief nursing officer and senior vice president, Patient Services, Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

The project, which cost approximately $12 million, was funded in part through events such as the Holiday Festival and Golf Tournament. In addition, the project received donations from medical staff including Torrance Radiology Group, Anesthesia Medical Group and Torrance Emergency Physicians giving in memoriam of Dr. Lemkin. In addition, corporate contributions came from donors such as The Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and Comerica Bank.

The 25-bed Lemkin Pavilion includes many advancements and advantages including:
