Torrance Memorial Offers Free Help with Medically-Related Hair Loss

Torrance, CA - Many medical conditions and treatments can cause hair loss. Hormonal or nutritional imbalances, as well as surgery, medications, chemotherapy and radiation can result in significant thinning or even total hair loss. Torrance Memorial Medical Center offers a special service to help women cope with medically-related appearance changes. The Woman to Woman Image Enhancement Center’s trained volunteers provide private, individualized instruction on the use of hats, scarves, hair pieces and other techniques to help women feel attractive. This free class, offered from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 24, in cooperation with the American Cancer Society, provides cancer patients with hands-on ideas for enhancing personal appearance during and after treatment with radiation therapy or chemotherapy.
