Hospital Care

After the birth of your child, the remainder of your hospital stay provides a time period to ensure that both mother and baby are recuperating properly. At Torrance Memorial, we respond to the needs of the family, as well as the patient, because we feel that, as an extension of the patient, the family also needs information and support.

The postpartum unit features 28 private, single-bed maternity rooms where highly experienced postpartum nurses help make you comfortable while you regain your strength. If you are breast-feeding, feel free to ask the nurses to help you.

If your baby's father or coach wants to stay overnight in your room, arrangements can be made. We limit visiting hours to allow mother and baby to recover.

Rooming-In - During your hospital stay, we encourage you to spend as much time as you wish with your baby. To facilitate this, we allow 24-hour rooming-in if desired.

Newborn Nursery - The newborn nursery at Torrance Memorial features specialized equipment and staff specially trained to care for your baby. The nursery staff can answer questions about your baby and assist new parents.
