"HEART TO HEART" REACHES OUT TO HEART PATIENTS

Being diagnosed with heart disease ranks as one of life's more traumatic experiences. We at Torrance Memorial Medical Center want you to know that you are not alone and that we are concerned about how you are coping with this experience.

Our Heart Disease Recovery and Prevention Program offers you and your significant others "Heart to Heart", the Cardiac Visitation Program. This service is provided by men and women volunteers who, like yourself, have experienced a cardiac event either as a patient or as a family member.

This service provides your significant others the opportunity to ask questions and share hopes and concerns with an empathetic listener while the patient is still in the hospital. Our group of volunteers understand the sense of sadness, anxiety or concern your family may be experiencing and are available Monday through Friday.

For more information call the Delpit Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at (310) 517-4737.

"TAKE HEART" IS A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE HELPING EACH OTHER

"Take Heart" is a service offered by our Heart Disease Recovery and Prevention Program. This peer support group for individuals with heart disease and their significant others. Our goal is to help you to establish stronger support systems by offering reassurance, comfort, support and fellowship. In a roundtable discussion environment, "Take Heart" is facilitated by Cardiac Nurses and/or people who have experienced a cardiac event and have professional experience working with support groups. This service is offered at no charge. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month, 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Reservations are not required.
